Midi has kicked my a55 since the late 90's, and I'm finally trying to man up and deal with it. Especially if you've already sacrificed and bought the infrastructure and then it's been obsoleted. I'm really pretty dumb, but I have such a hard time spending money on infrastructure, when really that is more important than your sound sources or processing. It is overkill for my setup, but it being standalone really is killer.Thanks. I came in to recommend the Mio10, but see someone else already did. Good luck with the 360 OP, hope it works out. I've got some kind of feeling like I've already got a midipatchbay! I do, but it is a brick, thanks Apple, seriously, thanks for everything that you do. I just wish I could get my Unitor to work on win 7. If the synths prices rise, the infrastructure prices must rise as well, I suppose.

I think I looked on line and that was the average price for completed auctions, not endless relisting with insanely high prices.Īnyway, with all the nutjobs getting into hardware synths, I think prices on old 80's midi stuff is on the rise too. But if I remember, I was going to offer the local dude $45 and he was helluv pissed calling me a lowballer, etc.

Really like it as a standalone computerless, switchable true midipatchbay. I had one turn up locally, recently, I called the dude, and I heard the same thing I keep hearing, "Just sold it." (who is buying all this gear, minutes before me out here in the middle of nowhere. Then again, I'm thinking about that Kawai Mav4/8. I don't use more than one computer, but I'm starting to see instances where it could happen. Think the mio10 is way beyond my needs though, I don't have networked midi etc, and other bells and whistles, but room for future expansion sounds interesting. Have seen some infomercials for it (youtube "honest" reviews), but no real user experiences from what I can tell. I will try it tomorrow and can share my experience if you're interested. From what I'm seeing, the mio10 is a legit contemporary midi box (don't know what to call it, as it is i/o and patchbay and mergerer). They also have mio10 with more inputs/outputs and suitable for 19".

It's description says, that everything can be routed/merged virtually and it can serve 2 computers (that's what I've got here) at the same time. I have probably faced same problem with growing amount if vintage gear and therefore ordered iConnectivity mio4. Thanks again apple for jacking up most everything in my life.Įvery few years, I research this issue, and there are never any new options, or never any affordable options.

But the Unitor is a beast of a patchbay, it is so much more, dealing with different time code clocks, a really robust device, but it was killed by Apple. Anybody game? My unitor is mint EXCEPT for some nasty rack rash that I just put on it. So I'm up for a straight trade, Unitor for another midi patchbay. They seem to be like the BCR/F 2000, like no one is making them and everybody needs them.

Thing is, I'd like to also use an 8in/out midi patchbay for production work as well, and as such, will need a working midi patchbay with drivers for win 7 and above.Īny recommendations for affordable splitters/mergers, and midi patchbays?

So I could conceivably do this if I can get that machine to boot, and actually find a serial mouse and keyboard. You can set up the unitor through software, and it will retain the programmed configuration, even when it is not hooked up to a computer. I've got a unitor I'm thinking of using, but I've got to boot up an old win 95 machine that has drivers for it. Desperately in need of midi splitters, and or a midi patchbay. I'm finally doing it, putting a midi live rig together.
